Astigmatism

The front of the eye is shaped more like a rugby ball than a soccer ball, so vision is blurred or stretched at all distances.

Astigmatism is very common and often occurs together with myopia or hyperopia. Light is focused at two points instead of one, which makes edges look smeared and can cause squinting or tired eyes.

It is corrected with spectacle lenses or toric contact lenses that are made specifically for your prescription. Most people adapt within a few days of wearing the correct lenses.
