Your first contact lenses start with a fitting appointment. We check that the lenses fit and give clear, comfortable vision, then show you how to put them in and take them out until you can do it confidently yourself.
Daily disposable lenses are worn once and thrown away, so there is no cleaning or case to look after. Reusable lenses are cleaned and stored every night and replaced on a set schedule. We will help you choose what fits your routine.
Build up your wearing time over the first days as we advise, and come back for your aftercare visit even if all feels well: it lets us check that your eyes are staying healthy.
Do not sleep, swim or shower in your lenses unless we have told you that your lenses allow it, because water can carry organisms that cause serious eye infections. Keep a pair of spectacles with an up-to-date prescription as a backup.
If an eye becomes red, painful or sensitive to light, or your vision blurs, take the lens out and contact us the same day. Our article on caring for your contact lenses covers daily hygiene.
